TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

25

John Dorian

Playing The Fool: Zach Braff of Scrubs
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Along with his only-slightly more mature life-partner Turk, John "JD" Dorian has to be among the most encorrigible of blissful boobs, even when passing out from the stress of being on the toilet.
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

24

Philip J. Fry

Playing The Fool:  Billy West of Futurama
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  A thousand years of watered-down pop culture, scientific advancement and language decay, and still Fry seems especially dumb amongst his peers.  Sweet natured as he may be, its hard to live down his rationalization for sleeping with his own Grandmother and conceiving his own father.
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

23

Walter Bishop

Playing The Fool:  John Noble of Fringe
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  We're glad Walter had pieces of his brain removed, as what we've seen of Walternate shows that our favorite Fringe scientist wouldn't be half as charming or eccentrically likeable wihout his impairment.
Granted he may have destroyed two universes by kidnapping the other Peter before his surgery and causing holes in the fabric of reality, but his post-operative social failings rarely hurt anyone else.
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

22

Ted Mosby

Playing The Fool:  Josh Radnor of How I Met Your Mother
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Likeable though he may be, perhaps the only things dumber than drunkenly getting a tramp stamp tattoo or ending up in a fight with a goat would be rambling on about a simple story of how he met his children's mother for over eight years without ever getting to the point!
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

21

Dale Gribble

Playing The Fool:  Johnny Hardwick of King of the Hill
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Psycho conspiracy theorist and balding chain smoker aside, we always have a soft spot for Dale given his unabiding love for a son and wife clearly belonging to another man.TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

20

Henchman 21

Playing The Fool:  Doc Hammer of The Venture Bros.
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-ChildrenCrowning Moment of Stupidity:  Rubbing chips and salsa on his face as "realistic battle-damage" while hiding from the actual battle probably ranks among the more impressive achievements of the nerdly lovable 21, given that his cowardice and 24's faulty seatbelt eventually got the latter blown up.

19

Randy Hickey

Playing The Fool:  Ethan Suplee of My Name is Earl
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  So innocent and sweet you can't help but look past the borderline retardation and light autism, Earl's younger brother's crowning moment (or moments, rather) of stupidity involve attempting to get himself thrown in jail to reunite with the brother he feels he cant live without.
Turning down Catalina in the end wasn't too bright, either.
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

18

Kenneth Parcell

Playing The Fool:  Jack McBrayer of 30 Rock
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  It was a tough call between Kenneth and Tracy Jordan, but we had to give it to the former seeing as Kenneth has quite a few years on him, evidently
Unendingly loyal and positive, Kenneth's only fault is his limitless naivetee which often prevents him from realizing his true potential.  As Jack puts it, "in five years we'll either all be working for him or dead by his hand."
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

17

Peter Griffin

Playing The Fool:  Seth MacFarlane of Family Guy
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Say what you will of allegations of plagiarism, but Peter Griffin surpasses even Homer Simpson in loveable buffoonery given his legally mentally challenged status, and propensity to occasionally drop a jaunty tune.
Still, to have a single wish from Jesus himself and waste it on  this?  The universe weeps for thee.
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

16

Mork

Playing The Fool:  Robin Williams of Mork and Mindy
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Sure, he's not even technically a man, let alone a man-child.  But even his peers on Ork would rather nothing than to be rid of him given that Mork's humor and off-beat mannerisms sharply contrast with his fellow species, much as the real Robin Williams does here on Earth.TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children
15

Dick Solomon

Playing The Fool:  John Lithgow of 3rd Rock from the Sun
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Technically the youngest of the crew sent to study Earth, the petulant and laughably irresponsible Dick Solomon might be a self-absorbed jerk, but always manages to make us smile even when cowering in fear of Jell-O.
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

14

Michael Kelso

Playing The Fool:  Ashton Kutcher of That 70's Show
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Michael Kelso, like a dog, will run through your backyard with a stick and hump anything that moves, but instantly melt your heart with those puppy-dog eyes and good looks.  You'd have to be a loveable idiot to fall off the water tower that many times, too.
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

13

Andrew Wells

Playing The Fool:  Tom Lenk of Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Shoving a knife through you best friend because your invisible ghost other best friend is pretty dumb, but not quite as loveably ignorant as failing to notice Alyson Hannigan and another girl make out while there's fine carpentry afoot.
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

12

Andy Dwyer

Playing The Fool:  Chris Pratt of Parks and Recreation
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Well overlook Andy falling into the pit on account of his drinking, but you'd have to be pretty foolish and immature to overlook Aubrey Plaza for more than two consecutive episodes.  Still, Andy's child-like enthusiasm in all things endears him more than any of his relationship with Ann would detract.
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

11

Eric Matthews

Playing The Fool:  Will Friedle of Boy Meets World
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  It's hard to pick just one moment from Eric Matthews' sweet-natured stupidity, but Friedle really found his niece with a bearded appearance as "Plays With Squirrels" in a potential future vision, "Me Manifesto" in tow which has us in stitches (or robes) years later.
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

10

Hiro Nakamura

Playing The Fool:  Masi Oka of Heroes
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Perhaps Hiro wasn't to blame, given that Heroes writers could never get a handle on how characters could logically use their powers, but leaving the younger Charlie stranted in the 1940s because her older self said it was okay is pretty unforgivable no matter how adorable his "yatta!" may be.
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

9

Pee-wee Herman

Playing The Fool:  Paul Reubens of Pee-wee's Playhouse
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Don't let Paul Reubens' legendary off-screen antics sour you on Pee-wee, we welcome the eternally animated and child-like naivete of Pee-wee as the character enjoys his re-surgence in the media when Reubens brought the character back for a Broadway show and even WrestleMania!
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

8

Randy Marsh

Playing The Fool:  Trey Parker of South Park
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Possibly even more popular a character than his own son, Randy has a plethora of stupid moments to choose from, ranging from his overdramatization of alcoholism, to his giant, bouncing balls, but we can never keep back a smile when Randy invariably ends up being dragged away in his underwear screaming about America.
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

7

Mr. Bean

Playing The Fool:  Rowan Atkinson of Mr. Bean
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Described by Rowan Atkinson himself as a child in a man's body, Bean rarely even has to speak to keep us in stitches, most notably when he successully packs his car to the brim and manages to build a steering contraption in a chair atop the roof!  Idiocy, or brilliance?
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

6

Joey Tribbiani

Playing The Fool:  Matt LeBlanc of  Friends
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Sweet-natured by dumb as a brick Joey has had quite a few moments of stupidity over the years, but none so prolific as thinking we'd actually care enough to watch him in a spin-of
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

5

Homer Simpson

Playing The Fool:  Dan Castellaneta of The Simpsons
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Owing to either a lifetime of neglect, a Simpson gene or a crayon in his brain, Homer's lack of intelligence is unparalleled even by Ralph Wiggum, but with enough heart to compensate.  We'd pick just one moment, but we wouldn't want to brain our damages.
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

4

Buster Bluth

Playing The Fool:  Tony Hale of Arrested Development
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  The Bluth brothers G.O.B., Michael and Oscare don't have more than a few hundred brain cells between them, but none so adorably misguided as the over-mothered and sealed-fate befallen Buster Bluth.  We'd gladly join Army if it meant just a few more moments with the Arrested Development crew.
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

3

Charlie Kelly

Playing The Fool:  Charlie Day of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Dirty, disgusting and damaged though he might be, you can't help feeling for the adorably downtrodden Charlie Kelly, who in between huffing paint and penning musicals alluding to molestation can find time to vastly lose his grip on reality, cutting the gang's brakes and leaping out the back of a van yelling "wild card, bitches!"
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

2

Cosmo Kramer

Playing The Fool:  Michael Richards of Seinfeld
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Mooching, wild-haired hipster doofus though he may be, characters all across the Seinfeld-verse couldn't deny the animal magnetism of Cosmo Kramer, who in his crowning moment nearly killed a whale by hitting a golf-ball into its blowhole.
Not to say that the real Michael Richards isn't a different story...
TV's Most Lovable Idiot Man-Children

1

Michael Scott

Playing The Fool:  Steve Carell of The Office
Crowning Moment of Stupidity:  Much nicer than his UK counterpart, its hard not to fall for the endearing madness that is Michael Scott, whether he's trying to save face in the wake of his latest blunder or surprisingly winning sales with his superb charm.  Still, it takes an impressive clout of stupidity to burn one's foot on a George Foreman grill before getting out of bed in the morning.
